Firefighter Caraveo began his career as a
firefighter for the Carrollton fire department
in 1996, and is currently assigned to engine
company #23.
Andres is a Georgia State Certified Firefighter,
National Registry EMT, National Professional
Qualified HAZ/MAT Technician, CPR/First Aid
Instructor, Fire Safety Educator, and has
training in emergency vehicle operations.
During His career Andres has received additional
training which includes, structural fire
control, arson detection, emergency response to
terrorism, survival Spanish for public safety
officers, first responder to radiological
transportation incidents, brain trauma 4 CEU’s,
pre-hospital management of traumatic brain
injuries, waste isolation pilot programs
(radiological), and apparatus driver/operator
training.
Before becoming a firefighter, Andres served 20
years in the United States Army. During his
career in the army Andres received many awards,
decorations and letters of commendation. He
served as a medical specialist in eyes, ear,
nose, and throat. At the rank of first sergeant,
Andres was a combat medic in a medical company
and received a honorable discharge from the Army
in 1991.
Some of the military training Andres received
was combat training, nursing, EMT,
transportation of the sick and wounded, field
surgery, field sanitation, anatomy and
physiology, eye, ear, nose and throat training,
chemical and biological testing, and
decontamination.
Some special team or committees Andres served on
include Chemical Accident/Incident response
teams,

disaster committee ( coordinates emergency
response between hospitals, fire departments,
police forces, and civilian personnel ),
personnel and finance committees, and DPG
military and civilian patient care.
Andres attended many educational institutions
including, The University of Cincinnati,
El Paso
Community College,
City College of Chicago, Fitzsimmons Army
Medical Center, and West Central Technical
College.
He is a member of the Georgia State Firefighter
Association and the West Georgia Regional HAZ/MAT
team. |
