Driver/Engineer Shackelford began his career as a firefighter with the Carrollton Fire Department in November of 1993 and quickly earned the rank of Driver/Engineer. 

Engineer Shackelford is a State Certified Firefighter, HAZ/MAT Technician and Medical First Responder.  He also has training in emergency vehicle operations and is a Fire Safety House driver. 

He also has specialized training in emergency response to terrorism basic concepts, arson detection for first responders, radiological emergency response and management, emergency response to radiological transportation accidents, radiological waste isolation pilot program, and guidelines for pre-hospital management of traumatic brain injuries. 

Prior to his career as a firefighter, Engineer Shackelford served 21 years in the United States Army.  During his career in the Army, he achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class E-7.  Donnie has been married for 27 years and has two daughters and one son.  He enjoys fishing and baseball and is a 1971 graduate of Carrollton High School.
