Driver/Engineer Sparks began his career as a
firefighter with Carroll County Fire/Rescue in
1981 as a volunteer. He later became a career
firefighter with the same department. He then
began his career with the Carrollton Fire
Department in March of 1996. He quickly earned
the rank of Engineer.
Driver/Engineer Sparks has many years of
firefighting and leadership experience. Some of
his qualifications include State Certified
Firefighter, National Professional Qualified HAZ/MAT
Technician, National Registry EMT, and emergency
vehicle operations training.
He also has training in radiological emergency
response and management, CPR/First Aid and
pre-hospital management of traumatic brain
injuries.
Throughout his 23 year career as a firefighter,
Fred has participated in and instructed many
live fire training sessions, tactical and rescue
operations, extrication classes, flammable and
combustible classes and many other related
schools.
He is currently assigned to Engine Co. #22.
Engineer Sparks is married to Sharon and they
have 5 children and 4 grandchildren.
