Captain Ken Thompson began his career as a
firefighter with the Carrollton Fire Department
in October of 1985. He was named Firefighter of
The Year in 1991. He was promoted to the rank
of Lieutenant in 1991 and earned the rank of
Captain in 1995.
Captain Thompson is a State Certified Fire
Officer, National Registry EMT, National
Professional HAZ/MAT Technician and confined
space technician. He also has training in life
safety codes, fire cause determination, arson
investigations, rescue specialist, emergency
vehicle operations, thermal imaging systems,
Cameo Dos and Windows chemical database, CPR and
emergency cardiac care, radiological emergency
response and management, and automobile air bags
and supplemental inflatable restraint systems.
Capt. Thompson is a member of the Georgia State
Firefighters Association, West Georgia L.E.P.C.,
and West Georgia Regional HAZ/MAT Team.
Ken was born in
Mobile,
Alabama, on August 23, 1956, and has seven
brothers and sisters. He is a 1973 graduate of
Bowdon
High School. Ken and his family are Carrollton
residents and are members of the Carroll County
Foster Parenting Association.
